Florida's 21st Century Community Learning Centers
Program Evaluation Unit
The Program Evaluation Unit was established by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) and 21st CCLC Leadership Team to assist the FDOE, as a funding agency, to fulfill evaluation, data collection, and program reporting requirements.
The purpose of the PE Unit is to examine the quality and effectiveness of Florida's 21st CCLC programs, while also highlighting the accomplishments of individual programs as per their stated objectives. Quality is evaluated in terms of the five objective areas set forth by the Florida Department of Education (i.e., need for project, adequacy of resources, quality of project design, quality of management plan and budget, and quality of project evaluation). Effectiveness is evaluated in terms of student outcomes and performance, teacher surveys, and program satisfaction surveys from students and parents. The ultimate intentions of evaluation is to (1) provide information and direction to program managers, teachers and other practitioners administering Florida's 21st CCLC programs, (2) determine needs for technical assistance trainings, (3) make recommendations to the Department for continued funding, and (4) provide evaluation feedback to the Department and sub-grantees based on program objectives.
