What is a No Cost Extension?
A No Cost Extension (NCE) is typically defined as an extension from the original award end-date (June 30th) that does not require additional funding.
Sub-grantees receiving 21st CCLC funds may request a one-time extension of the project period if additional time beyond the project period is required to complete the original scope of work.

- Secure prior approval to implement a summer program that will operate beyond June 30th via a program and/or budget amendment
NCE requests may not be submitted for review if sub-grantees:
- Utilize 21st CCLC funds to purchase supplies, materials, equipment, or any other items to be used during the next project year;
- Plan to expend 21st CCLC funds outside of the approved budget line items as identified on the DOE 101- Budget Narrative Form, or

What is the process to apply for a No Cost Extension?
NOTE: THIS GRANT YEAR 2008-2009 FDOE has decided to move the 2009-2010 project year to August 1st, 2009-July 31st, 2010. This was done to reduce the need for future No Cost Extensions (NCE) and to allow programs to attend the 21st CCLC National Conference without requesting a NCE. As such, the
procedures for No Cost Extensions has changed for this year. Please contact your TAT representative for updated NCE procedures for this period.
Programs should notify their TAT representative that they are intending to submit an NCE. Sub-grantees requesting a NCE are recommended to submit:
1) One letter on the LEA's or Agency's letterhead indicating:
- The reason(s) for the NCE
- Operational dates and sites for the NCE period
- The last day to encumber funds- seven (7) calendar days from the date services STOP for students
- The signature of the Superintendent or Agency Head
2) A NCE Worksheet for EACH program site that is operational during the NCE period
